How can I fix my norton antivirus 2002???

My Norton antirus program recently stopped scanning incoming and outgoing mail. I am getting a message when my computer starts up...''CANT START NORTON EMAIL PROTECTION''. Also there is a an URGENT MESSAGE SAYING ERROR on email scanning when I open the antivirus by clicking the icon. If I have to uninstall and reinstall will I lose all of my latest virus definitons . My subscription expired and dont want to pay them again for definitons.

You need to get one antivirus program, one firewall and some spyware/adware/malware removers if you don't have it.

I use Norton Internet Security (antivirus, spyware, firewall, add blocker, mail spamfilter, pop up blocker etc) Ad Aware, Spybot and more on my desktop running XP Home SP2 with Firefox and Yahoo Toolbar with pop up blocker.

On my laptop i have Ubuntu 7.04. No security needed in Linux, but i use antivirus and firewall. Firefox is standard.

I have no virus, spyware, adware, pop up etc on my computers.

Mozilla Firefox and Opera are safer browsers to use then Internet Explorer.

ok, i have just gotten this threat of this guy off of myspace that he has my ip addy and this is a work computer that i use and can he be able to get into my computer??? i have a firewall protection up and he said he might still be able to get into this work comp i'm on...is it possible????? please someone let me know something??????????????? but he said he gave me the right ip addy but its the wronhg one it starts with a 2 not 1, so how many ip addy can i have????

1)why is this guy threating you? can you get him in trouble with the authorities?

2)most work pc's have more protection the home pc's.

3)Unless he is EXTREMELY(i stress extremely) good hacker there isnt a way for him to access your pc UNLESS you downloaded something from him b/c then he could send you a trojan virus which is like opening a back door to your pc and they can do whatever they want with it.

4)its unlikey that he got your ip unless again you d/l'ed something from him (i.e. a p2p network)

5)your pc has a ip and so does your firewall so it IS possible to have one and not the other.

6)firewalls are meant to keep people out of your system by hiding your real ip.

so unless again he is EXTREMELY good (like its all he does all day) i wouldnt worry. he is probably just trying to scare you but to be on the safe side, if you see your pc acting funny-shut your connection off quick and run an anti-virus.

Windows 98 error message: while initializing vxd?

am having trouble booting up my PC (Windows98). When i boot the machine up i get screen prompting me to start in safe mode.

whether i start in safe mode or normal i get the following error:

you have to restart your computer

when i restart my computer, the whole process starts all over again, does anyone have any suggestions why it does this or how to fix it

VXD files normally have to do with video drivers in some form or another. Evidently one of those files became corupt.

Unfortunately, I don't have an answer for booting it up, except using a boot disk and hoping it has the drivers on it or simply reload Windows from scratch.

Seems weird, but i just googled your first error and heres a resolution directly from microsoft:

With the computer turned off, disconnect and then reconnect the keyboard.

If that does not work try using another keyboard to determine if your keyboard is malfunctioning. If it is, replace the keyboard.

downloaded limewire last night but since then my computer has gotten 4 viruses which thankfully i was able to get rid of them with my virus protection and im currently doing another scan right now what can i do 2 keep myself protected and to prevent this from continually happening

If you have good virus protection you should be O.K. I assume they were detected and removed before they got on your system

The viruses are not coming from Limewire. They are coming from the people you are downloading files from. You must have hit some bad ones to get four that quick.

I wanted to buy something like Windows Live Onecare that gives you spyware protection, antivirus protection, firewall, and lets you back-up your computer. Is Windows Live Onecare any good or are there any better products out there?

It is fairly good. Just make sure you follow the instruction it gives you from time to time as far as applying updates and running scans. It'll change color to indicate the status of your computer (green, yellow, red) to indicate what is going on. So if you ignore it when it is telling you there might be problems then it is of no use. Like any program it won't do anything for you if you don't make sure to use it.

Has anybody else had virus problems with DIVX player?

I downloaded DIVX video player a few weeks ago, and I got a warning as It was downloading saying that ''A Trojan had been detected''. I know a Trojan is a type of virus, as my sister had one on her computer once. So I used my virus protection software to clean all files on my PC, deleted the DIVX player, and I have not had a problem since.

So, this morning, I wanted to watch a film, but I needed the DIVX player to watch it. I thought I may as wll try again (Seeing as DIVX is quite a well known brand, I thought that there product surely can't be that bad?) However, I've had problems again! My computer totally froze up and didn't respond when I tried to shut it down. I eventually had to kill the power at the wall-switch.
