How to install windows 95 over xp?

I have a scorbot ER-lll robot, and it only runs in DOS. So I bought a windows 95 cd. Then I install, it formatts my hardrive and converts it to FAT, then it instally windows 95. Everything runs smooth until it is installed. When it runs in normal mode it says (Windows protection error. Please restart your computer) and I do restart it but it doesn't work. It won't run in normal mode, only safe mode. Does anyone know how to install windows 95 over windows XP, and it would run normally.

-Thanks in Advance-

If your computer came with XP, it is likely far too new to have Windows 95 drivers available for your hardware. Windows 95 can't cope with things like SATA drives and PCI Express slots, or even USB properly.

The way I see it, you have three options:

1. Buy an old junker computer, and install Windows 95 on that.

2. Install DOSBox:

and configure it to use your serial/parallel/whatever port you use to control the robot.

3. Install FreeDOS:

http://www.freedos.org/

It is compatible with MS-DOS, but includes an installer so that you can dual-boot Windows XP and FreeDOS. You can find detailed instructions for this on the site if you don't understand the process.
