Windows 98 error message: while initializing vxd?

am having trouble booting up my PC (Windows98). When i boot the machine up i get screen prompting me to start in safe mode.



whether i start in safe mode or normal i get the following error:



while initializing device VKD -



Windows protection error -



you have to restart your computer



when i restart my computer, the whole process starts all over again, does anyone have any suggestions why it does this or how to fix it

VKD is the acronym for ''Vitural Keyboard Device'' driver.

VXD files normally have to do with video drivers in some form or another. Evidently one of those files became corupt.



Unfortunately, I don't have an answer for booting it up, except using a boot disk and hoping it has the drivers on it or simply reload Windows from scratch.

Seems weird, but i just googled your first error and heres a resolution directly from microsoft:



With the computer turned off, disconnect and then reconnect the keyboard.



If that does not work try using another keyboard to determine if your keyboard is malfunctioning. If it is, replace the keyboard.
