Is norton anti-virus really helpful to my PC?

How helpful is norton anti-virus in providing virus protection in all your files is until now I have never presonally proven. Also, once norton anti-virus is downloaded to your computer will slow down your computer, right?

I personally use norton internet security 2007. I am amazed by it and the fact that it was made by symantec! All the other nortons are crap, but this one doesn't drain your pc so much! Hp reconmends Norton 2007 also so I'd say keep it! But if you are worried tha toyu can't ge tthe most out of your pc because of Norton than all you need to do is uninstall it when your subscription runs out and get avast.

I reconmend avast because of its many sheilds. Unlike AVG (I have AVG PRO, AVAST PRO, and NORTON 2007 and used them all!), which only really catches viruses when you tell it to (or by outlook), AVAST (which is also free, mind you) will catch them as they are downloaded (and even if they are automaticly downloaded from a webpage!)! AVAST asks you what you want to do with your virus and if the webpage your on has a vrius on it AVAST will ask you if you want to close the page! AVAST will also catch viruses as they try to run and even if AVAST can't delete it when it catches it, it will ask you if you want it to delete the virus next time windows starts up (so it gets it before the virus has time to run). Avast autoupdates its virus definitions and it tells you to. A male voice comes on and says ''Virus Database Has Been Updated.''
