Well i just bought a year of protection from Norton and got everything just about right on my computer.
Which i fairly old. My comp had finally started running fast when one of my friends came over and told me to let them do a couple things on it to make it even faster. And so i did. Big Mistake.
I'm pretty sure he didn't know what he was doing and whatever he did made my computer a damn turtle.
He said that i had a lot of space that i wasn't using and he typed sum numbers into something and it ****** everything up and i don't know what to do.I've thought about just rebooting the whole thing but i know it will erase Norton. What to do?

Rebooting won't erase norton. If you installed it, it stays on the hard drive until you uninstall it. Hard drives keep information even if the computer is shut, unplugged from the wall of if a power failure occurs Reboot, 99% of the problems are solved that way !.

Avast is a free anti-virus that you can download and install on your computer and it works very well. I use it.
What I suggest you do is install Avast instead of Norton.
If you have the Windows XP CD, re-install it , this will reformat your hard disk and erase any mistakes your friend made. Don't let anyone touch your computer if you are not sure what they are going to do. Hope this helps.
You can do the HDD and you will be able to re install norton they should of given you a code through your email.
Just reformat the drive.
