Work Place Bulling?

I work in a small office and am a boss (Male). 2 Female staff have been using the computer system to send messages to each other over the last 10 months which too be honest 'slag me and my family off to the maximum'.

I 'unknowing to them' have been able to access these messages. And I wish I hadnt...

What can I do. Taking Data Protection into mind..

U.k.

If you admit you have been reading their messages then the air will be blue.

They are not 'bullying' you as this has been done (as far as they know) without your knowledge.

The plan I would follow would be to act completely innocent to what has been going on, but issue a memo from 'above' stating that all communications within the organisation are being monitored and any unauthorised or innapropriate communications will result in disciplinary action.

Then watch them squirm.

It could be libellous? I'm not sure as an employer you can read employees emails unless you said in the company rules that you can assess work emails.

Take proper advice, but you might be able to do it if you say it's happening going forward?
First and Foremost....Have you spoke to your manager or business owner? If not, you must do so immediately. Second you must have their written approval for your actions to follow below....
